397 free file converters that run in your browser

Someone sends a file. Your software will not open it. You search "convert X to Y", land on a site that wants your email address, uploads your file to a server, watermarks the output and caps you at two a day.
There are 397 converters on News Appite that do none of that. Free, no sign-up, and — the part that matters — the conversion happens inside your browser.
Nothing is uploaded
These are not a web form in front of a server. The page loads a conversion engine onto your own machine — the same image, audio and video libraries desktop software uses, compiled to run in a browser — and your file is processed there.
Load the page, switch off your Wi-Fi, convert a file. It works. That is the proof.
Which means a contract, a salary slip or a client's raw footage never leaves your laptop, and there is no size cap beyond your device's own memory.
What is actually covered
Images — 120 converters. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG and ICO in most combinations. The ones people reach for: HEIC to JPG for iPhone photos Windows refuses to open, PNG to JPG when a form insists on JPG, JPG to WebP to make a website faster, and SVG to PNG when a logo has to go somewhere that will not take vectors.
Documents — 80 converters. PDF, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, EPUB, HTML and Markdown. PDF to Word gives real editable text, Word to PDF goes back the other way, and EPUB to PDF gets an ebook onto paper.
Spreadsheets — 55 converters. XLSX, XLS, CSV, TSV, ODS and JSON. XLSX to CSV for the import that only accepts CSV, and CSV to XLSX when the export is plain text and you want real columns.
Data formats — 28 converters. JSON, XML, YAML, TOML and CSV: JSON to CSV to get an API response into a spreadsheet, CSV to JSON for the reverse, plus XML to JSON and YAML to JSON.
Audio — 36 converters. MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC and Opus. MP4 to MP3 pulls the audio out of a video, WAV to MP3 shrinks a recording, M4A to MP3 fixes voice notes, and FLAC to MP3 makes a library fit on a phone.
Video — 42 converters. MP4, MOV, WebM and M4V, plus extracting audio. MOV to MP4 for iPhone clips, WebM to MP4 for anything downloaded from a browser.
Archives, fonts and 3D models. ZIP, TAR, GZ and TGZ between each other; TTF to WOFF for web fonts; OBJ, STL, GLB, glTF and PLY for anyone doing 3D printing or CAD — OBJ to STL and STL to GLB among them.
Three things worth knowing
Lossy to lossless does not restore anything. Converting a JPG to PNG stops further loss; it cannot bring back detail the JPG already discarded. Same for MP3 to WAV. Convert from the best original you have.
A scan is a photograph. A scanned PDF converted to Word gives an empty document, because there is no text in it to extract. Run it through OCR first.
Vectors and pixels are different things. SVG to PNG works fine. PNG to SVG does not produce a real vector — it wraps the pixels, and the result will not scale the way a drawn vector does.
Why they are free
We are a software studio; News Appite is the news site we publish, and it carries advertising. The tools bring people to it. That is the whole arrangement — nothing is uploaded, so there is no data to collect even if we wanted to.
All 397 converters are here, inside a set of 507 free tools.
And if the useful thing here is not the converter but the fact that somebody built 397 of them that load fast and keep your files on your own machine — that is what we do for clients too.
